The Government of Canada has announced that it is transitioning towards direct deposit as the primary payment method for all federal payments issued by the Receiver General.

As part of this initiative cheque stubs will no longer be printed starting the spring of 2015.

In order to receive direct deposits, recipients who currently receive payments by cheque are strongly encouraged to enroll in direct deposit by providing their banking information.

Before you enroll

You will need to gather the following information, if applicable:

  • your business name and address
  • your Business Number (BN)
  • a void cheque or your bank account information
  • your email address

Modify your information

You must inform us of all modifications to be made to your account (financial Institution, branch transit number, account number) by filling out and mailing a new form.

Until your completed form has been processed, you will continue to be paid by cheque. If you are changing any bank account, be sure to tell us about your new bank account. In addition, do not close the old bank account before we deposit the payment into the new bank account.

Note that direct deposit payments carry no stub information but a payment notification will be sent to the email address indicated on the request form. This notification will contain the amount of the payment, the invoice number (if applicable) and a description of the payment.
